`inspired by prey2017`

Before reading this paki basa muna ito hehe. https://www.reddit.com/alasjuicy/comments/ifhbl2/bff_for_19_years/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share After nung nangyari kagabi samin ni BFF, nag punta ang pinsan ko dito sa bahay niya to tell that my Mom and Dad were looking for me. I have things here sa bahay ni BFF kaya kampante ako. This BFF of mine does everything. He lives alone. A little background of my BFF. He's a hacker. Gray Hat hacker siya. He's being paid at the moment by 2 major banks here at the Philippines to secure the server data. Six figures salary. I can match what he earns. Fast forward; after what my cousin told me and said goodbye to me; Mom called me to say that I need to go home. ASAP. Papagalitan nanaman nila ako for sure so naka pag isip ako kaagad ng rason and told her na "Mom, nabuntis na ko ni insert bff name, kaya nandito ko. Then my Mom replied "Diosmio kang bata ka! Alam mo ba ang ginawa mo!? Pano na kami ng Daddy mo nito! Jusko talaga! Mahabaging Ama patawad po!" then she cried hard, really hard and I mean it. Since bumili si BFF ng pagkain namin for dinner before the call, hindi niya alam na tumawag si Mom saakin pag alis ng pinsan ko. I told him kung ano ang pinag usapan namin ni Mommy sa telepono. Nung una sabi niya "Sira ka talaga. Bakit mo naman sinabi kay Tita yon? Sira tuloy image ko sakanya." and I gave my reason. Soon, 20 years na kaming mag Bestfriend. October 3rd 2000 when I first met him. Sinuntok ko siya sa balikat para maka singit ako sa arcade machine at doon na nag simula ang pag kakaibigan naming dalawa. Masaya ba ko? Oo naman, dahil nakawala ako sa mga kadena ng parents ko at the age of 31. Mas masaya ako dahil hindi ko aakalain na he will go along with me. I expected him, denying it pero I was wrong. He proved to me na he will be by my side until I found the right person pero hindi pala ibang tao ang right person para sakin. Siya pala na, nakilala ko lang sa isang arcade shop dito samin 19 years ago.
2020.08.19 00:51 killmasta93Very odd issue on port 443
Hi I was wondering if someone could shed some light on the issue im having, Currently having a VM running nextcloud. Im trying to change the way it authenticates with Letsencrypt but to do so it needs to be able to communicate on port 443. Internally i can telnet the server on port 443 but externally i cant, so i thought it was a firewall issue but its not when i try though VPN i can ping the VM and telnet port 80 and not 443 I disabled the UFW service and also it shows that its open on port 443 but cannot telnet so for me this is odd.
Incoming G11 student here. 2 weeks from now, pasukan na namin.
2020.08.11 16:16 biggreekgeekFlatten the Curve. Part 46. What Are Super Pollution Events? Burnt plastic smell. Chemical Odor Sickness in Dominican Republic. Over Night Respiratory Problems. Plastic Eating Microbes. Covid-19 Linked to Pollution. The New Normal isn't Normal. And it isn't New. But it is the Calm Before the Storm.
Read the Previous Post Here. We don't have regular pollution in our New Normal. Nope. Not at all. Regular pollution isn't good enough these days, so now we have Super Pollution. Wait. What? Yep. You read it right. Super Pollution.
Give a hoot, don't super pollute.
January 15, 2020 - Starting Dec. 21, the region's air exceeded federal safety standards for daily levels of particulate matter — microscopic particles that penetrate the lungs and can trigger heart attacks and respiratory disease — for six consecutive days. One of the region's air monitors recorded the worst air quality in the entire United States and registered in the "Code Red" range for several hours on multiple days. Residents complained that the air smelled like "rotten eggs," "sewer backup," "burning plastic" and "hospital waste," and reported symptoms such as wheezing, coughing and choking, nausea, stinging eyes and headaches through the SmellPGH app, which uses crowdsourcing to map smells and symptoms associated with air pollution.
Residents complained of rotten eggs, which seems to be happening world wide. Strange for strangers to these posts, but not strange for people who have been following. So let's dig in and see what all the stink is about.
The monitor that registered the Code Red sits near U.S. Steel's Clairton Coke Works plant, which converts coal into "coke" used in steelmaking by cooking it at extremely high temperatures. The plant — one of the region's primary sources of air pollution — is notorious for breaking clean air laws and sickening residents. But this time the facility was operating in full compliance with its permit, according to the Allegheny County Health Department, which oversees air quality in the greater Pittsburgh region. The unhealthy air was caused by a combination of U.S. Steel's emissions and a temperature inversion, which occurs during unseasonably temperate winter days when a warm air mass sits above a colder air mass, trapping pollutants that typically blow away close to the ground.
Let's see if we can make sense out of this New Normal logic. The unhealthy air was caused by U.S. Steel, yet the previous paragraph stated that the company was operating in full compliance with its permit. Double your pleasure, double your fun, with new and improved Doublespeak.
Doublespeak is language that deliberately obscures, disguises, distorts, or reverses the meaning of words. Doublespeak may take the form of euphemisms, in which case it is primarily meant to make the truth sound more palatable. It may also refer to intentional ambiguity in language or to actual inversions of meaning.
So how did the unhealthy air get created this time? Who knows? Seriously. Because the article doesn't actually say. I guess an explanation doesn't have to make sense, it just has to give a reason that sounds good.
**"For the last at least 60 years we have data for, we can clearly see a trend of increasing temperature inversions in midlatitude regions," Shiliang Wu, an atmospheric chemist and associate professor at Michigan Technological University, told EHN. "I believe this trend will continue in the coming decades, which will likely lead to an increase in extreme air pollution episodes." Midlatitude regions are the temperate zones between roughly 30 to 60 degrees north or south of the equator. The midlatitudes encompass about 36 countries, including the United States and most of North America, and are home to more than half of the world's population. Wu co-authored a 2016 paper on long-term changes in extreme air pollution meteorology, which he believes was the first to look at six decades of global meteorology data, to learn how events such as temperature inversions and heat waves have changed over time. He found that heat waves in the summer and temperature inversions in the winter — both of which can lead to extreme air pollution events — have increased by up to 50 percent in the last 60 years in most midlatitude regions. Heat waves often lead to higher ozone levels, while temperature inversions tend to have a stronger impact on particulate matter pollution. Like particulate matter pollution, ozone also can cause chest pain, coughing, throat irritation and airway inflammation, reduce lung function and worsen bronchitis, emphysema and asthma. Particulate matter pollution is also linked to heart disease, heart attacks and premature death in people who already have respiratory or heart disease. Extreme air pollution events such as the one that recently plagued the Mon Valley also have happened in Salt Lake City, Paris, London and Beijing in recent years. Many of them were the result of either heat waves or inversions, and some have occurred despite relatively decreased emissions.
Hmmm. That's a whole host of respiratory problems. And hey, look, Paris to London, that means we have an explanation for the Rotten Egg smell that travels a really far distance really easily and over night. Pretty convenient, isn't it?
There's still some debate in the scientific community about the increase of inversions in winter, and about exactly how future changes in weather patterns will affect levels of particulate matter pollution. Wu believes the data from the last 60 years points to a clear and growing increase in wintertime temperature inversions, and that policymakers in urban areas should take note. "Certain geographical regions like those in a basin or valley and major urban areas are more likely to be affected by inversions and see this kind of extreme pollution events," Wu said. "What just happened in the Mon Valley is obviously not as deadly as what happened during the Donora Smog, but it's still a serious threat to public health when you have air pollution at this level."
There's still some debate? Really, you don't say? I wonder why? Maybe it's because the debate centers on how the rotten egg smell happened? See, that's a pretty specific smell. And the main cause is hydrogen sulphide. And yet H2S is heavily regulated, and it has been for some time now. So where did it come from? It doesn't say. The article also goes to talk about the midlatitude region's that encompass North American wind circulations.
January 30, 2019 - On any planet that rotates, you’ll have an effect called the prevailing winds. As the atmosphere circulates around the world, planet Earth typically experiences three different types of winds, normally confined to three different latitude zones: • 0° to 30°: where we get the trade winds, which blow from east to west and converge at the equator. • 30° to 60°: which give us the westerlies, which blow from west to east, and rise up towards the Arctic (or down towards the Antarctic) circle. • 60° to 90°: the polar cells, which are normally confined to the highest-latitude regions on Earth. Source Here
Now, let's think about and double down on the New Normal Doublespeak. The smells are caused by atmospheric inversions. Those inversions are mainly in midlatitude regions. Those inversions are caused by climate change. All good. And then look at a map of the world and the Covid-19 outbreaks and you'll see something curious; they are centered mainly around midlatitude regions.
April 28, 2020 - Support for their arguments can be found in scientific research recently published in Italy about the coronavirus being found in abundance in air filters which may indicate that it is an atmospheric phenomenon: The research also points out the obvious fact that the highest occurrences of COVID-19 infections between December and April 2020, were all in the same belt of latitude. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of the foci of infection outside China is that they are all located close to latitude 30-50 degrees N. Source Here
Oh. Curious, isn’t it? Slightly concerning too. Or alarming, depending upon a person's ability to reason. Rotten egg smells. Burnt plastic smells. Climate Change inversions. Covid-19 worse in midlatitude regions. Air pollution makes COVID-19 worse. Wear masks inside. Air conditioning filters stores coronavirus. And what about the burnt plastic smell?
June 30, 2019 - Staten Island: Update: We smell it, but the powers that be don't. "Smells burnt, but I can't describe it," said a reader who reached out to the Advance on social media. She added that the order was "similar to burnt plastic, but much worse." A woman who drives around the Island for work said the scent "smells like rotten garbage, like the back of a garbage truck." Source Here
December 4, 2019 - Nashville: Jack Henderson says he’s smelled a strange odor in the morning and evenings for about two weeks. “It’s really nasty. It smells like burning tires or burning rubber,” Henderson said. It’s not just outside either. "We've smelled it in our house as well,” Henderson said. Henderson knows he is not the only one. On social media, people from the Cleveland Park and the Highland Heights neighborhood associations have been talking about the stinky smell. Source Here
August 16, 2018 - The South Coast Air Quality Management District is investigating a chemical odor that spread throughout Orange County on Thursday night, officials said. Residents from Costa Mesa, Irvine, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda described the smell various ways. Some said it smelled like lighter fluid, burnt plastic or paint thinner. “We dispatched our inspectors,” said Patrick Chandler, a spokesperson for the AQMD. “They’re in the area investigating and monitoring to determine the source.” Air quality inspectors are working to obtain samples in order to determine what is causing the odor, he said. Sometimes, however, by the time inspectors arrive at the scene, the odor has dissipated, he said. OK. There are more complaints about the burning plastic smell, but you get the point. And guess what? It's easy to dismiss it, but car complaints about burning plastic have increased as well. Across all the brands and companies. It must all be atmospheric inversions giving us back our man-made pollution, right? And yet we have a paper explaining about volcanic outgassing and Hydrogen Sulfide outgassing causing the rotten egg odor:
Grahn and co begin by discussing the method they used to tackle the mystery. They say the most likely culprit is the gas hydrogen sulphide, which is well known for its rotten egg smell. So an important question is how much hydrogen sulphide the volcano produced during its eruption and at what rate. This leads to an immediate problem. Geologists did not make any direct measurements of hydrogen sulphide levels during the Bardarbunga eruption. However, remote sensing satellites are able to measure the concentration of sulphur dioxide, which is also released in great quantity during eruptions. Grahn and co say that measurements from other volcanoes suggest that there is about 113 times as much sulphur dioxide as hydrogen sulphide by mass in volcanic gases and that this ratio does not appear to change as the cloud moves through the atmosphere. So they assume that the Bardarbunga volcano produced a similar ratio and that this did not change as the cloud dispersed. Another important factor is the state of the atmosphere at the time and in particular the direction of the winds in the following days. The results make for interesting reading. The model produces hourly predictions of gas concentrations in the regions of interest in Norway, Sweden and Finland over several days. Grahn and co say that sulphur dioxide levels over these areas were well below the olfactory threshold that humans can detect. “Based on our simulation results, we conclude that it is unlikely that SO2 is to blame for the foul smell,” they say. However, the model shows that the concentration of hydrogen sulphide would have exceeded the threshold, or was within an order of magnitude of it, at all the places that reported a foul smell. “We argue that the cause for the foul smell was hydrogen sulphide originating from Bardarbunga,” they conclude. Flatten the Curve Part 45.
How dare you, right Greta Thunberg? It's always humanity's fault.
September 29, 2016 - Power plants’ sulfur dioxide emissions dropped 64 percent statewide between 2000 and 2014, he said. Nitrogen dioxide, which harms the lungs and contributes to ozone, often called smog, fell 69 percent, he said. As some coal plants shut down, carbon dioxide — which warms the atmosphere — also declined. That’s meant cleaner air. Evansville-area concentrations of fine particles dropped nearly 30 percent over the past decade, EPA monitoring figures show. But the air here is still worse than in most of the country. [https://usatoday.com/90846584)
But the pollution is still worse. Uhm. Come on. Do your job and actually investigate, would you? Could you? You know, actually give us why it's worse, instead of going back to blaming factory emissions when you just said they were cleaner now? Maybe it has to do with all the underground coal seam fires raging in Pennsylvania? The same underground emissions that have been looked at as a possible cause for the End Permian extinction event? Nah. It's just us. SMH. Now you'll find something funny when you look at results for Super Pollution events, namely, they go crazy in 2019 and get worse. There's only a few mentions that I can find before that. So what? Glad you asked. This is what is called behavioral manipulation. Plain and simple. They found the event to explain the smell. They aslo found the event to dismiss the smell as well, but that will be explained in a later post.
Plastic Surgery for a Plastic Planet.
October 11, 2018 - It has long been known that if you give a population of microbes a reduced level of food source and a lot of contaminants that they could chew on if they get hungry enough, evolution will do the rest. As soon as one or two mutations favors digesting the new (contaminant) food source, those microbes will thrive - they now have unlimited food, compared to their friends trying to survive on traditional sources of energy. It therefore makes perfect sense that the Japanese scientists found that evolution has achieved the same miracle in the environment of a waste plastic storage facility, where abundant PET exists for the dining pleasure of any microbe that could bust the enzyme barrier and learn how to eat the stuff. Source Here
April 17, 2018 - Scientists stumbled upon a plastic-eating bacterium—then accidentally made it stronger. The natural world is rapidly becoming a giant pile of plastic waste. There are literally six—six!—ungodly large garbage patches swelling in the ocean. Even areas as far removed from us as the Arctic are not safe. We're slowly suffocating a lot of natural ecologies with our trash. Fish, birds, and other animals all unwittingly consume the five trillion tons of plastic (and counting) strewn about the ocean, and doing so can kill them. Scientist are trying to come up with novel solutions to remedy the plastic pollution crisis, and they're thinking small—in a good way. In a new study to be published in the Proceedings of of the National Academy of Sciences this week, a team of international scientists illustrate how they created—by accident—a new enzyme capable of breaking down plastic bottles. This providential development could finally allow us to fully recycle plastic drink bottles for the first time ever, putting a much-needed dent in plastic pollution increases. The new study's origins are tied to the 2016 discovery of a bacterium in a Japanese waste dump that had evolved to use PET (polyethylene terephthalate), commonly used in the 1 million soft drink bottles sold every minute around the world, as an energy source. The team of scientists originally began running tests to see how the bacterium, Ideonella sakaiensis, managed to produce an enzyme capable of degrading PET. Those tests, it turned out, inadvertantly made the enzyme, PETase, even better at degrading PET. The resulting mutant PETase now takes just a few days to break down PET, compared to the 450 years it takes for the stuff to degrade naturally. Beckham and his team have already filed a patent with the hopes of making the enzyme stable and active at temperatures above 158 degrees Fahrenheit, where PET becomes rubbery and breaks down 10 to 100 times faster. Source Here
If you keep searching you'll find something strange, those scientists weren't the only researchers who found plastic eating microbes. German scie ntists did as well. So did high school students. Also: Cambridge scientists have recently discovered a plastic eating bug that can break down the mass-produced and hard to break down plastic polyurethane. The bug was found at a plastic waste dumping site, The Guardian reports, and not only breaks down the plastic, but eats it, fueling the breakdown process. So it seems we have a rapidly growing plastic eating microbe situation on our hands. That's a good thing, right?
2015 - The scientific name for this process is cell respiration, in which cells obtain energy stored in food accompanied by oxygen uptake and release of carbon dioxide and heat (Madigan et al. 2015). This is only one of the many simultaneous chemical reactions happening in a cell. All reactions are collectively called metabolism. All the chemical reactions in a cell either produce heat directly, or are coupled with a reaction that eventually produces heat. More thoroughly stated, “biological order is made possible by the release of heat energy from cells” (Alberts, et al., 2014). Some of this heat is harnessed in a way to perform work to build certain molecules in the cell, but some heat always escapes. This is the heat that keeps our bodies at a certain temperature. So how could these single celled organisms aid in starting a fire? Understanding microorganisms will help explain this occurrence. Source Here
Are you seeing the problem here? I am. Microbes make heat that causes spontaneous combustion. Burnt plastic smells being reported in cars. Cars catching on fire overnight. Cars catching on fire after owners smell burnt plastic. The worlds on fire folks, and it ain't pretty - there will be a follow up post to the pandemic pyromaniacs on quarantine parade soon - because the reports are out there, but as usual, aren't linked. Let's look at one more thing today. Do you remember Flatten the Curve Part 28? The one I wrote about the deaths in the Dominican Republic in 2019?
June 26, 2019 - A Canadian woman who stayed at a Bahia Principe resort in the Dominican Republic in 2016 alleges that she fell critically ill after being exposed to a strong chemical odor in her room, and that she has battled multiple health problems ever since. Tina Hammell told CNN in an interview that the smell in her room at the Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana resort woke her and her husband from a nap. "It was so strong that I was burning and coughing, and it was very upsetting," she told CNN, adding that she was moved to another room, which made no difference. Hammell said that her symptoms quickly worsened, sending her into convulsions. "I remember my muscles, my hands all turned in and my legs came up, I just was spasming and I lost consciousness," Hammell said. Meanwhile, a Colorado couple has filed a lawsuit against the resort company, which is based in Spain, alleging that they fell ill because of pesticides while staying at one of its hotels last year. Their description of a strong smell in their room and the onset of illness bears similarities to what Hammell claims to have experienced. Source Here
Report after report says residents smelt a chemical odor or a strong smell. They had respiratory problems, kidney failure, heart attacks, plus more. One even threw up green goo. They linked it to pesticides, in house chemical usage, possible poisoning, and more. The CDC, FBI, THE WHO, all investigated. And then they declared everyone died from natural causes. Respiratory problems develop overnight in non smokers and still continue to this day. That's natural, right? Keep Calm and Carry On. Our next warning catchphrase? My money is on this: If you smell shit, talk about it. We have a problem folks. And this problem is going to be kept secret for as long as they can hide and cover up the events. Trust me. Super Pollution discussion has been ramped up out of nowhere, and this isn't the only example I have dealing with preemptive programming scenarios. They prepare for the future with info dumps, and later on they start working backwards to have the facts either deleted, and the more we develop technology and AI, the worse it's going to get. It easy now that we don't have hard copies of information to keep on hand. Need to change the narrative? Call it fake news and the fact check with altered facts to support your argument. It's gaslighting on a worldwide level, brought to you by the digital revolution called the information age. What can we do about it? Raise awareness now. Talk about it. Cause doubt and attempt to break the narrative. You don’t have to convince anyone, just plant a seed. Make them suspicious now and i guarantee most people will read more headlines and start to question the answers provided by TPTB. Because I don't care what the official version of events are, there is no way that people are smelling rotten eggs and getting sick after, others are smelling chemical odors and burnt plastic + getting sick after, cars are spontaneously combusting after smelling burnt plastic, we have volcanic activity, Cyanobacteria blooms in our waters, and both are emitting Hydrogen Sulphide and Hydrogen Cyanide.
Cyanobacteria have been linked with hydrogen cyanide, based on their ability to catabolize it by the nitrogenase enzyme, as a part of nitrogen fixation. Nitrogenase can also use hydrogen cyanide instead of its normal substrate, dinitrogen and convert it to methane and ammonia. In this study, we tested whether cyanobacteria are able, not only to reduce, but also to produce HCN. The production of HCN was examined in 78 cyanobacteria strains from all five principal sections of cyanobacteria, both non-heterocytous and heterocytous, representing a variety of lifestyles and habitats. Twenty-eight (28) strains were found positive for HCN production, with universal representation amongst 22 cyanobacterial planktic and epilithic genera inhabiting freshwater, brackish, marine (including sponges), and terrestrial (including anchialine) habitats. The HCN production could be linked with nitrogen fixation, as all of HCN producing strains are considered capable of fixing nitrogen. Epilithic lifestyle, where cyanobacteria are more vulnerable to a number of grazers and accumulate more glycine, had the largest percentage (75%) of HCN-producing cyanobacteria compared to strains from aquatic ecosystems. Source Here
Let's dive deeper.
Breathing small amounts of hydrogen cyanide may cause headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Larger amounts may cause gasping, irregular heartbeats, seizures, fainting, and even rapid death. Generally, the more serious the exposure, the more severe the symptoms. Teatment for cyanide poisoning includes breathing pure oxygen, and in the case of serious symptoms, treatment with specific cyanide antidotes. Persons with serious symptoms will need to be hospitalized. Call your doctor or the Emergency Department if you develop any unusual signs or symptoms within the next 24 hours, especially: difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or chest pain confusion or fainting increased pain or a discharge from your eyes increased redness, pain, or a pus-like discharge in the area of a skin burn.
24 hours. Strong odors. Went to bed and then woke up sick. Respiratory problems. Strange how it sounds like the Dominican Republic deaths and sicknesses, isn't it? The microverse of microbes is changing, adapting to new food supplies and doing what they do best, recycling products for food to create energy, and that energy is creating heat and starting fires, and it's also outgassing flammable fumes as a byproduct of heat created through the respiration needed to make energy. It's a small problem that is the biggest problem we've ever faced, and it will get worse as the environmental collapse picks up steam. And part of the collapse is because of the microbial balance. This is what they do, they recycle the earth, and keep the biosphere going. And since we've introduced petroleum products like plastic, microbes appeared to eat and breakdown the plastic and recyle it back into the biosphere. Just like the increased microbes are recycling the excess sulfur coming from hydrothermal vents in the ocean, and from fissures in the earths mantle being created through tectonic plates undergoing subduction. But the Rotten Egg smell is only because of Super Pollution and atmospheric inversion events. Yep. Ok. Keep the Calm Before the Storm and Carry On. The New Normal is all connected, and We're All In This Together. This is how normal ends, not with a bang, but with the New World Order. Keep Your Head Up and Eyes Open. Talk soon.

Isaias strengthens as it approaches the Dominican Republic this morning
Satellite imagery analysis over the past several hours tells a complicated story about the current position and structure of Tropical Storm Isaias. While imagery depicts increased convective banding and a more centralized cloud pattern, rapid-scan imagery suggests that Isaias's low-level circulation center is actually displaced to the west of a very intense burst of deep convection. It is entirely possible that Isaias is attempted to form a new low-level circulation closer to this convective burst, which would make the storm much more organized and vertically stacked. Intensity estimates derived from satellite imagery and Doppler radar data from the WSR-88D radar at San Juan indicates that maximum sustained winds within Isaias have increased to 50 knots (60 miles per hour). The strongest winds remain to the northeast and east of the low-level circulation.
The forecast for Isaias remains complex and uncertain
Tropical Storm Isaias is currently moving toward the northwest along the southwestern periphery of a deep-layer subtropical ridge situated over the central Atlantic. Model guidance remains in good agreement that Isaias will reach the island of Hispaniola later this afternoon, making landfall near the city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Interaction with high terrain over the island is expected to cause some disorganization within Isaias's convective structure and a new low-level circulation could form north of the island early Friday morning.
Isaias is expected to reach Florida on Saturday, but may remain offshore
The intensity and track forecasts for Isaias become more complicated and uncertain after the storm moves over the island of Hispaniola and will depend on exactly what happens to the low-level circulation after interacting with the terrain. For now, the National Hurricane Center is forecasting that Isaias will continue northwestward after emerging over the northern coast of the island on early Friday morning. Marginal environmental conditions may result in gradual intensification as the cyclone approaches Florida on Saturday, though the storm's intensification will be tempered by increasing southwesterly shear and decreased mid-level moisture. An approaching mid-level trough may nudge Isaias onto a more northward track as it reaches Florida on Saturday, possibly resulting in the center of circulation remaining offshore, though close to the coast.
Isaias may affect the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Tuesday
Isaias is currently expected to reach its peak intensity of 60 knots (70 miles per hour) as it passes along the coast of Florida on Saturday and Sunday. It should be noted that some model guidance is suggesting that Isaias could reach hurricane strength by this point, but because of the high uncertainty in the intensity forecast which is contingent on what happens to Isaias over Hispaniola, the National Hurricane Center is leaning toward a more conservative forecast for now. Increasing interaction with the mid-level trough should cause Isaias to make a more northeastward turn on Monday, resulting in the cyclone moving over the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Tuesday.
1. Isaias will produce heavy rains and potentially life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides across the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, northern Haiti, and over the Bahamas. 2. Tropical storm conditions are likely across portions of the the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico through this morning and will spread westward to portions of the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas later today and Friday. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for these areas. Do not focus on the details of the track forecast, as rainfall and wind hazards will extend far from the center of the system. 3. While this system could bring some rainfall and wind impacts to portions of Cuba and Florida later this week and this weekend, it is too soon to determine the location or magnitude of those impacts. Interests there should monitor the progress of this system and updates to the forecast over the next couple of days.

2020.06.30 21:23 biggreekgeekFlatten the Curve Part 29. Virus outbreaks closing schools before pandemic starts. Quarantine ordered after March break trips, despite previous virus reports in Mexico and the Dominican. Children died. Why no warnings?
NUMBER 28 with more information Let's recap yesterday's episode of, as the world burns, let's Flatten the Curve. The coronavirus was detected last March in Spains water supply. Over sixteen hundred people got sick around the same time period in the Dominican Republic. And we have a trail of mysterious deaths involving immunologists. Obviously this information should make you ask, is this a coincidence? Am I seeing things? Can I make sense out of this? No, you can't. Not verifiable proof backed with evidence. To make an argument for correlation among these events is beyond the capacity of the average person. We don’t have the resources or the access to information that would allow us to make a stronger case. This is a a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. That which is so dense and secretive as to be totally indecipherable or impossible to foretell. In other words, unlike other topics being analyzed non stop these days. This isn’t a pizza, delivered to you in a box, hot and fresh to keep you busy. If you don’t have a problem finding the information, they either want you to find the information or don't care if you do. So what else do we know about the pandemic? Is there something we aren't thinking about? Yes there is. It's the children. Or the children of the corn, depending on your point of view towards having a little mini me to raise. The Pandemic was already taking place by March break. That much was obvious to anyone paying attention. We've all seen movies like 12 Monkeys, or Contagion, to make an uneducated assessment. Yet the top level experts didn't.
Countries like Denmark, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic blocked their borders in early March, when it became clear that the virus had spread beyond the Chinese province of Hubei, where SARS-CoV- 2 is probably at the origin. By the end of February, it was clear that travelers were bringing the virus to Canada from countries like Iran, Italy and the United States. In the week before the announcement, 7,976 flights left Canada for international destinations. The Globe also identified more than 5,200 flights between Canada and countries with at least 1,000 cases of COVID-19 between March 1 and March 13. “It’s a crazy number,” said Dr. Chowdhury. “Our hospital systems were predicting a pandemic, but the federal government has not advised Canadians not to travel abroad.”
Oh. So our esteemed politicians ignored the advice of the professionals? Was it fake news? Did they perform a fact check? Or maybe they went to Snopes and found the pandemic was false? Don't you find it ironic that they tell us to listen to science, but they didn't listen to science?
Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do.
Caution for Ottawa travelers did not come until March 13, just two days before the start of the Spring Break in Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, one of the busiest travel periods in the country. To add to the confusion of travelers that week, mixed messages from federal and provincial authorities across Canada indicated that it was safe to travel.
Mixed messages from authorities? Just like our Google search results. Why you should go on March break. Should you go away for March break? Here's why you shouldn't go on March break*.
Quebecers were already back to school and working after the province’s spring break, during which more than 2,100 flights left Montreal for places like Paris, Cancun, Mexico and Varadero, Cuba. (Flight data does not include the number of passengers.)
Let's look at how bad the pandemic had been back on March 1st.
The COVID-19 virus has spread to more than 60 countries, and more than 3,000 people have died from it. New battle fronts in the battle opened rapidly, deepening the sense of crisis that has already sent financial markets plummeting, emptied the streets in many cities and rewritten the routines of millions of people. More than 88,000 have been infected, on every continent but Antarctica. Australia and Thailand reported their first deaths Sunday, while the Dominican Republic and the Czech Republic recorded their first infections.
Let's try and get a bigger picture here by revisiting the Dominican Republic before the March Break and after visits from the FBI + CDC + the WHO, who presumably were not on vacation.
On Thursday, CTVNews.ca reported that an Oakville, Ont. family had their vacation cut short after they said their two-year-old daughter contracted hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) at the Royalton Bavaro hotel in Punta Cana. Three days into their stay, Sarah Rundsztuk’s toddler began vomiting and convulsing. After seeking medical attention, she said the family was bounced between the resort’s 24-hour medical station and a local hospital, where Rundsztuk said her daughter was misdiagnosed twice.
This was one example, the article contains more, but it's difficult to find more information on the above, that could mean that nothing more happened, or that could have been the start of controlling the narrative, so I decided to poke around before the pandemic was declared in North America.
Manny Echevarria says his 18-month-old son became sick with hand-foot-and-mouth disease while on a Sunwing vacation in Mexico, and that it wasn't properly diagnosed until the family returned to Edmonton. The father caught it as well.
More reports of Hoof and Mouth disease in Mexico infecting children.
Since going public with her experience Boblin says she’s been contacted by 54 others who stayed at the same resort and also had a child get sick with the same viral illness in the last three months.
So what's going on? We have all those deaths and illnesses last year in the Dominican, and now we have a breakout of hoof and mouth disease in children. Oh well, at least it isn't Covid-19, thank God. With the virus being detected in March 2019, I was worried. Not now, not after they ran tests and found out it was hoof and mouth disease.
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease Diagnosis Your doctor will ask about your child’s symptoms and look at any sores or rashes. This is usually enough for them to decide if it’s hand, foot, and mouth disease. But they might also swab your child’s throat or take a sample of poop or blood for lab testing.
Hand-foot-and-mouth disease — a mild, contagious viral infection common in young children — is characterized by sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet.Certain skin rashes are emerging as possible symptoms of COVID-19, prompting additional research by some doctors and guidance by the American Academy of Dermatology. The lips may appear slightly patchy or bobbly, while the virus could also lead to some symptoms inside the mouth. Coronavirus patients have revealed that they may develop painful sores on the inside of the mouth.
I'm not sure about your medical visits, but I can't actually remember the last time that I was actually tested to verify what was making me ill. Can you? Look, again, maybe it is just a coincidence? It could be. It might be. There's a chance, right? And you could win the lottery too, right? In the start of all this madness we find ourselves in after March break, school and daycares were the first part of North America to close. Yet they assured us that children weren't hit as hard by Covid-19.
About 4% of children were asymptomatic, 51% had mild illness and 39% had moderate illness. About 6% had severe or critical illness, compared to 18.5% of adults.
Is there anything else that was setting off my alarm bells? Did something grab my attention like a the end of day school bell used to? It did, but not until after the reports of the systematic inflammatory condition started being reported in children. Studies find nearly 300 kids with inflammatory conditiontied to Covid-19.
Inflammation refers to your body’s process of fighting against things that harm it, such as infections, injuries, and toxins, in an attempt to heal itself. When something damages your cells, your body releases chemicals that trigger a response from your immune system. This response includes the release of antibodies and proteins, as well as increased blood flow to the damaged area. The whole process usually lasts for a few hours or days in the case of acute inflammation. Chronic inflammation happens when this response lingers, leaving your body in a constant state of alert. Over time, chronic inflammation may have a negative impact on your tissues and organs. Some researchTrusted Source suggests that chronic inflammation could also play a role in a range of conditions, from cancer to asthma.
Chronic inflammation happens when the response lingers. In other words, when it doesn't go away. Maybe like when it has a low viral load, so it isn't making you sick enough to feel, but it's still in your body. A low viral load like they're reporting in Italy? COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has become pandemic. With sharply rising infection rates, patient groups characterized by an enhanced infection risk will be challenged by the virus. In this context, patients with chronic immune-mediated inflammatory diseases are of particular interest, as these diseases are characterized by an intrinsic immune dysfunction leading to inflammation that may enhance risk for severe infection. So we had families out for March break after the medical community saw the pandemic happening. We had reports of children coming back sick from a disease. After March break they decide to close schools. Which showed you how serious it was. I can't remember seeing schools shut down because of a virus. 9/11 yes. A bomb threat, yes. A virus, no. So I decided to have a look for schools closing due to a virus before 2020. And look what I found.
Nov 21, 2019,11:23pm EST Virus Outbreak Shuts Down 46 Colorado Schools, Is It Norovirus? When the virus may be norovirus, you can’t just ignore-a-virus. That’s why over 22,000 students in Colorado will have no class. Well, at least for today and tomorrow. Diana Sirko, PhD, the Superintendent of Schools for Mesa County Valley School District 51, has announced the closing of the entire school district through the end of this school week. That’s all 46 schools in District 51.USA TODAY December 13, 2019. Stomach flu outbreak terrorizes school in Washington state, sickening over 100 students, staff.Schools have felt the impact. Schools in states from Alabama to Tennessee to Oklahoma announced they were closing last week for several days to help prevent outbreaks of the flu after large numbers of students and staff were absent. Knox County schools in Tennessee closed all 88 of its schools for three days after more than 5,000 students out of about 60,000 were absent on Jan. 28, a spokeswoman for the district says.
This was happening all over the place. Go ahead and search. I found reports from October. I found reports in Canada where absenteeism jumped to 17%, but had never been higher than 10% before. Was it Covid-19? Or was Covid-19 weakening immune systems and causing the spike in the other infections? Did they even verify that it was Influenza? We just don't know. It's no secret if you've kept up with these posts that I'm warning you that something is happening on the planet worldwide, and that I believe this to be the catalyst for other events. I believe one of the signs is an apparent increasing level of hydrogen sulfide in our environment, and I also believe this virus to be a stealth virus that activates through external toxins, either natural or industrial. Another possibility is that our immune system is weakening due to exposure of environmental toxins, leaving us in a weakend state to fight viruses. While i believe the virus was labmade, I do want to offer any alternatives that could be possible. So let's see what last nugget of information I can provide.
Jan 20/2020 YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK. Eric Reynolds was sleeping after a day supervising middle schoolers in Yosemite Valley when he was startled awake by the sound of someone pounding on his cabin door. “Mr. Reynolds!” one student said. “My roommate just threw up all over the place!” At first, he assumed it was food poisoning from chicken nuggets. But by the next morning, the young man was running a fever. Then nine additional students fell sick with stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, fever — the characteristic signs of a norovirus infection. As of Monday, one of the West’s most majestic national parks had received reports of about 170 visitors and employees with similar symptoms and most had spent time in Yosemite Valley earlier this month. The National Park Service and other health agencies have launched an investigation into the outbreak, casting a pall over Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, when visitors were allowed free of charge into the 1,162-square-mile Sierra Nevada landmark known for its giant sequoia trees, towering granite ridges and tumbling waterfalls.
In the article it talks about another viral outbreak of Norovirus in 2017, and a Hantavirus in 2012 that killed three people and made six more sick, linked to infected deer mice, so I can discount that information. Yet the Norovirus in 2017 ended up canceling classes after 200 students were potentially exposed. Is there more there? That's unsure, but I have a hard time believing that all of those school closures and hoof and mouth disease in children, aren't related, just as I find the sudden deaths + illnesses in the Dominican Republic, which had been ongoing until at least July, aren't related. Were there more after this point and it wasn't being reported on any longer? Was there a clampdown on the news after the federal investigators left? Or was it due to the low influx of tourists in the summer that lowered any additional reporting as not sensational enough? All of those factors need to be considered with an open mind, while taking into account the time frames and proximity to the pandemic. Yet the last thing that I would be doing at this moment is thinking the virus is a hoax, or that it isn't as bad as they're proclaiming it to be. Have you ever once seen authorities issue continuous warnings like this? Have you ever seen them throw money around like this before? This alone has to be a major red flag. We can speculate all we want over the origins of the virus, if it was accidental or deliberate, or what the overall intent is and if it is deliberate. None of that matters. In the end it boils down to this, either they are telling us to stay inside to protect us, or they are telling us to stay inside as a cover, so we don't start rioting by questioning why they didn't tell us to stay inside and not travel. You know, like at the start of this pandemic. Or when people demonstrate and they don't force us back in because they respect our rights to protest. Because don’t kid yourself, if they wanted the protests to stop, they would be stopped. Or have we all forgot about all the non leathel technology they have know? Don't fool yourself into believing this isn't serious. It is. Don't forget about the start and how everyone was warning that they government was downplaying how serious this was, and how the second wave would be worse. Don't forget how serious you took this because of a lapse before the second wave. You don't know who is on the other end of that Reddit account, do you? Think about it. It could be an agent of a government, any government, infecting your thoughts by spamming posts detailing how this is overblown or a hoax. Or they could just be wrong. Even the doctors and medical professionals who are claiming this is overblown could be proven wrong pretty quickly, or they could be fake, or they may not have your best interests in mind. Look at what I've just posted and ask yourself one question, do all of those events feel normal, or do they feel New Normal?
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
That's all I'm advising, plain and simple. Take care. Be safe. Stay aware and be prepared. Talk soon.
2020.06.09 12:19 Slijmerig[Event] Ayiti: The Island Has Money
Unification has brought a new stability to an area historically rotten with corruption, and Ayiti’s economy is flourishing because of it. Each level of government is vying to attract cash-flows, and many of them are succeeding. Investments pour into the country from every angle, feeding expansion of the mineral sector, a growing industrial base, and developing resort towns. New complexities and complications arise every day, so it’s best to get a basic understanding of the Ayitian economy now, as simply as possible.
The Ayitian Dollar (AYD) was pegged to the USD at a rate of 20 AYD = 1 USD, although the central bank has allowed it to crawl closer to the expected natural market value with time. It comes in a 1 AYD seven-sided copper-coated coin, a 20 AYD circular nickel-coated coin, a 100 AYD paper bill, a 500 AYD paper bill, and a 1000 AYD plastic bill. Each denomination features a natural wonder, words of wisdom, an important building, or a historical figure on one side, with the amount they’re worth emblazoned on a cute little stylization of the island (surrounded by olive branches) on the opposite.
The biggest player in Ayiti’s primary industry is the (80%) state-owned mining giant, the Ayitian Mineral Corporation. Recently, it’s entered a period of rapid expansion, buy-outs, and renovations, finally bringing joyous exploitation to the western side of the islands and its plentiful deposits. It operates almost all gold, silver, ferronickel, copper, bauxite, zinc, lignite, tin, marble, onyx, larimar, and travertine mines throughout the country, funneling these resources into private manufacturing firms. Agriculture remains a mainstay of the Ayitian economy. In the west, a class of landed farmers own much of the land and dominate the cash crop market. They were artificially created through a land reform project, and are legally required to devote a serious portion of their acreage to more edible crops, bringing the island a lot closer to food independence than other caribbean countries. In the sugarcane industry, the previous government of the region, the “Dominican Republic,” forcibly reformed every sugar mill town into cooperatives, as previously these towns were practically slave plantations. Now, these sugar towns have begun slowly diversifying their crop and economy, although they remain among the poorest areas of the east. Common crops include cotton, coconuts, cocoa, cassava, tobacco, rice, corn, tomatoes, and pulses. Additionally, many farms have been experimenting with rubber production, an interesting prospect. State and federal governments have been initiating programs to boost the Ayitian meat industry, subsidising ranches and other livestock businesses to make them competitive, at least domestically. This has meant a lot of local farms have begun producing feed-oriented crops to capitalise on the new market. One of the more interesting developments has to be the establishment of an Ayitian fishing industry. Poor coastal towns have been granted subsidies in the form of fishing boats, equipment, and training, bringing a small economic boom for them as people caught the hang of this new life. Overfishing has become a serious-ish problem, but the Ayitian government seems to at least be monitoring the situation in preparation for new regulations.
As the primary industries prosper, they present new opportunities throughout the country. New refineries, factories, sweatshops, and firms of all kinds are being constructed, all so that the staggering wealth of the island may serve its people over foreigners, or at the very least circulate throughout the island more before its departure. These business ventures may receive tax breaks or be under the aegis of protectionist tariffs, or they may just be competitive on their own, but they are all here, and that’s what matters. Before the resources of the island may be used, they must first be refined. Bauxite and chalcopyrite are refined into aluminium and copper, respectively. Ferronickel is refined into stainless steel with imported bituminous coal. Limestone is carefully processed along with other materials to create cement for concrete. The precious metals are purified, and the minerals are polished. The cotton is turned into thread and the thread into fabric. The sugarcane is milled and the tobacco dried. And only then does the real manufacturing begin. For some of the gold, silver, for a lot of the larimar and onyx, their journey ends quickly- They’re turned into jewelry. The more beautiful and unique creations are made by local artisans, but larger jewelry firms have an advantage on those folks: They can import diamonds and gemstones, allowing them to better reach the engagement ring market. The local artisans still manage to scrape by, with the internet allowing them to set up small stores online, but the big bucks always come from big business. For a lot of the gold, the silver, the copper, the tin, the aluminium, they get made into something potentially more exciting: Electronics. Electronics manufacturing is almost perfect for Ayiti, possibly even better if the reports indicating the possible presence of an abundance of rare earth metals within bauxite deposits pan out. Currently, the industry is limited to basic electrical items: Circuit breakers, relays, switches, that sort of stuff, but there’s an enormous potential to begin domestic assembly of larger electronics. If that means partnering up with foreign tech giants or trailblazing our own domestic companies through innovation and elbow grease, the Ayitian economy is up to the task! For the textiles, their journey ends in the apparel industry, which is, fun fact, the one with the most foreign ownership in the whole country! Mind-bogglingly large sweatshops abound in this industry, and they can be found across the island, rather than being limited to a region or two. While working conditions aren’t exactly hospitable (with temperatures approaching the surface of Venus) it’s generally safe, and to compensate the pay’s good enough to sustain a whole family. Not many of those jobs anymore. For some of the sugar and most of the tobacco and many of the less common crops, their journey ends with sin. Lots of sugar towns have built upon their tooth-decaying foundations with distilleries, where they produce loads of rum (of varying quality and flavour). Tobacco gets sold to either sweatshops of a different kind, where workers spend hours inside a boiling warehouse to roll cigarettes and cigarillos, or to local artisans, who diligently assemble cigars of a quality rivalling Cuba. Some less common crops, i.e. ones produced on the side of the farm, are brewed into beers for farmers to drink in their downtime or sell on local markets to other townsfolk. The joy of this small-scale craft brewing is well-documented, and many tourists come to rural towns just to get a taste of the local special. Even if it tastes like dirt, it’s got that small-town stench that’s just delightful. Some towns are even starting to capitalise on this, with DIY small businesses operating out of dedicated brewery buildings. It’s a bit dangerous, but nothing’s exploded yet, so the government hasn’t seen fit to intervene. For everything else, if it’s not being exported, it probably goes into one of the much smaller sectors, to possibly be combined with some imported bits and turned into a bunch of miscellaneous commodities. There’s a minor chemical industry to provide some of the more complex products necessary for electronics and other gadgets that are easily producible without advanced equipment. Strangely enough, there’s also a lot of companies that produce medical instruments and laboratory equipment, like diagnostic machines, small appliances, and other simple stuff. Then there’s a surprising amount of folks that get by through making polished marble countertops for first-world kitchens. Finally there’s a bunch of niche gold products. Lots of gold leaf bibles are produced domestically, as are a lot of trophies and awards. Most dentists within the countries also use gold for almost all fillings, as it’s actually very slightly cheaper. The Ayitian government welcomes all of these economic oddities with open arms, and even encourages new industrial experiments with grants and subsidies. For instance, a small domestic automobile venture received most of its funding from an entrepreneurial grant, and the first Ayitian cars are expected to roll off a brand-new factory line within the year.
As manufacturing expands, elevating the Ayitian people to a new height, the consumer class, so too must Ayitian services grow, not only to cater to the desires of economically uplifted Ayitian families with new shops and restaurants and whatever else, but to support the growth of the factories that sustain this new paradigm with goods and work for the people. And as retail expands and historically closed-off communities are pried open like oysters, the interests of tourists are piqued, and so new resorts and beach houses and airports must be erected to sustain and accommodate them, lest the economic opportunity be wasted. And we couldn’t have that. To start it off, there’s the developing financial service sector. The standard international breed of advertising services, market analysts, public relations assistance, business insurance, planning firms, investment banks, and general financial services have finally popped up (perhaps a better term is fruited, in a fungal sense) in the big-name Ayitian cities. They offer oodles of help to the growing entrepreneurial class, as well as to foreign companies looking to get a grip on operations in the country. However, they are suffering from minor employment problems, as Ayiti still needs to work on boosting participation and graduation from universities. But you don’t need a degree to work retail! Across the country, big-name domestic stores are seeking to become national franchises, vying against other corporations and foreign giants butting their way in. All the while the little guy gets thrown by the wayside as the communities that accept this new order introduce their small-town marketplaces to super-competitive supermarkets. Of course, it’s not limited to food or general goods. Pharmacies, boutiques, minimalls, restaurants, department stores, laundromats, entire hobbies and chores and even livelihoods are being outmoded as this modern march carries on. It’s a tale as old as time, but it’s no less tragic in the present. At least many Ayitian cities have local governments employing urban planners, so that they don’t turn out like the Americans did. Those developments may sap the idiosyncrasies from a town, but they also make them much more palatable for the average first-world bougie tourist. So, as those tourists began to trickle into such towns, exploiting them becomes an economically viable tactic, leading to the growth of tourist trap culture, a lovingly passive-aggressive way to welcome a tourist while also emptying their deep, deep pockets. Local governments have to watch these schemes carefully though, as outright scamming will give the community a bad rap. Anyway, most of the actual money flows into already-established or at least somewhat established resort towns. That means beach houses, condos, timeshares, airports, and cruise ship-accessible docks. However, some of the tourists think a little too highly of themselves for standard beachside bustling city experiences. That’s where ecoterrorism tourism comes in. See, Ayiti, as a scenic tropical island country, has a lot of beautiful vistas and a host of exotic birds and plants. The bougiest of the bougies pay big money for locals to guide them to these locales and yammer on about history or culture or whatever. It’s a great gig, if you have the experience and can stop your tour-members from slipping off a small hill and shattering their ankle. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Doubting if I will join this, since iba ang level ng entries compared on my little story. Despite that, I want people to get inspired on this little story of mine. Majority can relate on this problem. Self-confidence. So, ano kinalaman nito sa savings thread, OP? It’s connected, even though we’re on a different stories pero most can relate on this. Sweldo na meron ba or wala? That’s my status until now. Got a first job at 27, yes, I’m not that successful like others, but I just don’t want to give up on achieving my goals and dream, especially financial wise. Still on that job until that now, Project-based status, no regularization until the end of project term, no leaves and other benefits aside from 13th month and bonus at 85% rate of what regulars can get. I think you can get the gist of it. Gross Salary is 13k, net at 10-11k, swerte na kapag umabot dun. Being 30 right now and still having the same job. Let’s stop with the sob story na and make it on the main point. I was able to saved up exactly 100k at the end of the 2nd year job. Yes, someone like me, couldn’t even believe it when I achieved it last 2019 year-end. Me having a cold cash savings on 100k? Let’s jump it on the main point. I do live a frugalist life. Simple, as in pinaka simpleng tao na makikita mo. Yep, that’s how I act and live my life pero hindi pa mayaman, sobrang layo pa. Here’s the breakdown on what I did during those 2 years.
Living with my grandparents, giving 2k per month, 5k per bonus at year-end.
Very rare on ordering any fast foods, as in bihirang bihira. XD
No milkteas, expensive coffee or anything like that. From what I can remember 3x lang ako kumain sa ganyan. Two times with my college classmates dun sa Korean bbq unli, at chicken wings at isa kasama si friend sa another Korean unli.
Rare travel. Only had a paid travel twice last 2018 and it only costs 3,500 with officemates. Other than that, depende na sa seminar sa office kung meron like last year na nakarating sa Naga at Tagaytay.
Eating at the cheapest carinderia. One time, wala na silang ulam, so nag-ikot ako and I found a hidden carinderia. 25-30 lang ulam. May sabaw like sinigang, tinola, etc ay 35. Samahan mo pa ng 1 and a half rice na madaming serving. Bondat na ako. XD
I don’t buy leisure, last known purchase ko ay 12 pcs Alaska Choco Milk worth 102 pesos and another 3 Alaska Choco Milk worth 3 pesos. Yep, 3 pesos lang talaga binayaran ko, alongside with 5 pcs 250ml Milk Magic fresh milk for only 120 pesos. It’s a JACKPOT! Sabi nila, wag daw bibili kapag sale, but for me, you just need to time your purchase on the ones who are worth your bucks.
Cliqq Points. Nasabi na ito sa isang thread, but I’ll reiterate it. HEAVEN SENT! Ano gagawin mo? Download app, register and log-in everyday for free points and exchange it for items or use it on their sale. Managed to snag goods worth 250 lang for only 120 last July 11 or aka 7-11 mega sale. Alongside by claiming 1 pc chicken and Hotdog Sandwich kapag uuwi ako na Saturday at walang ulam sa bahay.
Clothes? Only bought 2 pants na pang-alis since I started to work worth 350 and 500. 2 rubber shoes kasi nasira na. Worth 350 and 500 ang price. One black shoes, yung known na brand Easysoft shoes waterproof for 600. Pang-alis na damit? Never. HAHAHA
Health Card? Was able to abuse it a little. Ginamit ko pang-check up nun nagka PTB IV ako last year, tapos derma visits, plus some emergency hospital confinement. Also used it on cleaning my teeth on the dentist.
Coffee and Juice? Free sa office kaya no problem kapag kailangan nito.
Known huge expenses:
PC Set worth 10k – Bought last 2018 Feb. 5 months after started working – Still alive and kicking!
Big Bad Wolf – 4k worth of books. (1.6k was used to purchased a manga set that I can sell for like 250-300 per piece)

Review Center Enrollment – 13k each x 2 = 26k. Dropped the first one since stress did eat me up alive during those days. Still have another one as a voucher I can use anytime for the upcoming batch. Although, with the current situation, baka self-review na muna.

Trump’s incompetence, authoritarian patterns continue with coronavirus response
In a standalone piece published yesterday, I go over Trump’s response to the coronavirus, how he made the spread inevitable, and the impact of Trump’s authoritarian impulses.
Nadler launches Barr investigation
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler sent Attorney General Bill Barr a letter last week requesting a slew of interviews and documents in preparation for Barr’s scheduled testimony at the end of March. Most notably, Nadler requested interviews with the four career prosecutors who withdrew from Roger Stone’s case after Barr intervened to recommend a lower sentence (which Stone received): Aaron Zelinsky, Adam Jed, Michael Marando, and Jonathan Kravis. John Durham, who is leading Barr’s investigation of the origins of the Russia probe, is also on the list, as is Jessie Liu, who supervised not only Stone’s case, but also the attempted prosecution of Andrew McCabe.
“Although you serve at the president’s pleasure, you are also charged with the impartial administration of our laws. In turn, the House Judiciary Committee is charged with holding you to that responsibility.”
While it is likely that Barr won’t comply with many of these requests, Nadler may issue subpoenas directly to individuals of interest. As Democrats learned during the impeachment hearing, career officials are more likely to be forthright and honest about the Trump administration’s crimes and misdeeds.
A divided three-judge panel of the D.C. Appeals Court dismissed the House Judiciary Committee’s lawsuit against former White House Counsel Don McGahn, ruling that federal courts have no role to play in disputes between the Executive and Legislative branches. The two judges who ruled in favor of the Trump administration - Thomas Griffith and Karen Henderson - were appointed by George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, respectively. The pair write that Congress should use other tools to try to compel McGahn’s testimony:
“Congress (or one of its chambers) may hold officers in contempt, withhold appropriations, refuse to confirm the President’s nominees, harness public opinion, delay or derail the President’s legislative agenda, or impeach recalcitrant officers.”
It should be mentioned that the majority does not mention the fact that during the impeachment trial Trump’s lawyers argued that Congress should pursue its subpoenas to executive branch witnesses in court. Judge Judith Rogers, a Bill Clinton appointee, wrote a lengthy dissent that is worth reading in full (starting on the 58th page of this document)
“The court removes any incentive for the Executive Branch to engage in the negotiation process seeking accommodation, all but assures future Presidential stonewalling of Congress, and further impairs the House’s ability to perform its constitutional duties… Future presidents may direct wide-scale noncompliance with lawful congressional inquiries, secure in the knowledge that Congress can do little to enforce a subpoena dramatically undermining its ability to fulfill its constitutional obligations now and going forward.”
Unfair competition suit
Trump also racked up a win in an “Emoluments-adjacent” lawsuit last week: a three-judge panel of the D.C. Appeals Court united to dismiss a wine bar’s claim that President Trump's D.C. hotel is unfairly undermining the business of other venues in the city. Judge Thomas Griffith, a George W. Bush appointee, and Reagan appointee Judge Stephen Williams joined Judge Merrick Garland in the ruling.
Though it is undisputed that the wine bar has experienced a downturn since Trump took office — his gilded hotel now attracting lobbyists, advocacy groups and diplomats who used to frequent the local business — the appeals court said no evidence suggests that the president or his hotel interfered in Cork’s business. The lawsuit “boiled down to an assertion that businesses with famous proprietors cannot compete fairly — a proposition alien to unfair-competition law,” Griffith wrote summarizing the 2017 dismissal of the case by U.S. District Judge Richard Leon.
As I explained in last Sunday’s post, Trump is seeking to purge any disloyal officials from his administration. Newly-returned staffer John McEntee is leading the search for “Never Trumpers” with the assistance of a network of conservative activists including Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. On Monday, White House spokesman Hogan Gidley confirmed that the White House is identifying employees seen as disloyal to force out of their positions.
“It’s not a secret that we want people in positions that work with this president, not against him, and too often we have people in this government—I mean the federal government is massive, with millions of people—and there are a lot people out there taking action against this president and when we find them we will take appropriate action,” Gidley said. “Time and time again we see in the media reports from people in the bowels of the federal government working against this president...The president's been pretty clear about the fact he wants people in this administration who want to forward his agenda. Donald Trump was the only one elected. He was the only one that the American people voted for. They didn't vote for someone at any of these other agencies, any of these other departments.” he said.
One of those purged from the administration, DNI Joseph Maguire, was fired for allowing his top aide to brief Congress on Russia’s intervention in the 2020 election to Trump’s benefit. Last week, Trump said he will nominate Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe to fill the position - again. Trump previously announced his intent to nominate Ratcliffe in July, but withdrew the nomination five days later after members of both parties questioned his qualifications.
Ratcliffe rewind: Following Trump’s announcement last year, “key Republicans in Congress quickly signaled that Ratcliffe lacked the national security expertise that the job requires by law.” Ratcliffe also lied to inflate his resume: “Records and interviews with former colleagues also showed that Ratcliffe had exaggerated his role in terrorism and immigration enforcement cases when he served as a federal prosecutor in Texas. During his campaign and on his congressional website, Ratcliffe had boasted that he ‘arrested 300 illegal immigrants on a single day.’ That turned out not to be true. Former colleagues also said he didn’t play a significant role in a major terrorism case as he has claimed.” (WaPo or non-paywalled)
The current acting-DNI, Ric Grenell, can only serve until March 11 unless a permanent replacement is formally submitted to the Senate for confirmation. The Federal Vacancies Reform Act allows Grenell to remain in position throughout the confirmation process and - should Ratcliffe fail - another 210 days after. If a second person is nominated, the clock “resets” again.
To add onto previous reports of how massively inappropriate Grenell’s appointment is, ProPublica revealed that the new spy chief once got over $100,000 from the Hungarian government, but never reported it. Failing to register as a foreign agent would normally be something the DOJ would jump at prosecuting. Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer wrote a letter to the Justice Department last week asking the assistant attorney general for national security to "immediately investigate." Grenell also wrote op-eds in 2016 defending Vladimir Plahotniuc, a Moldovan politician, and allegedly failed to disclose payments for his work on behalf of the oligarch.
What is the play here? The White House may believe that Ratcliffe is likely to be confirmed because Grenell is so ill suited for the job that Ratcliffe looks better in comparison. Alternatively, Trump is likely comfortable with Grenell as acting-DNI. Knowing that he would never survive the confirmation process, Trump may be using the generous time limits of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act to circumvent the Senate to keep his unqualified loyalist in the position in an acting capacity.
Rep. Robin Kelly, a member of the Oversight National Security subcommittee, introduced legislation last week that would mandate unconfirmed national security leaders testify before oversight committees every 45 days. “...this Administration has consistently used the ‘acting’ denotation to skirt these rules and limit Congressional oversight of our national security...The American people deserve better. They deserve to know who is responsible for protecting their families and our security. Congress must hold these individuals and any Administration accountable to the highest level of oversight and transparency to protect our national security.”
The effect of Trump’s grip on intel
The NSA, CIA, and Pentagon have been urged by the White House not to share information about Russia and Ukraine with lawmakers, while the “Gang of Eight” senior members of Congress were bypassed leading up to at least one major intelligence operation. And intelligence community leaders have backed out of the public portion of the annual worldwide threats hearing, fearing Trump’s wrath if their assessments don’t align with his. “We have an enemy of the United States that is conducting information warfare against us and our executive leadership doesn’t want to hear it, doesn’t want the Congress to hear it, and doesn’t want the people to hear it,” said former acting DNI David Gompert, who said he was “aghast” at the hiring of Grenell. “We now have a situation where the principal objective, evidently, of this acting DNI is to ensure that information about Russian interference and Russian preference for this particular president does not get out.” (Politico)
Ukrainian officials have noticed Trump’s purge and worry that efforts to force out individuals “would in the short term leave a hollowed out U.S. office in Kyiv and space for Russia to ratchet up its aggressive political influence operations.”
“Russia is getting more ambitious. They are already taking an aggressive position. Putin knows what he wants and he does not need to seek approval for his actions inside Russia let alone outside of Russia,” Danylyuk said. “There are not enough people in the administration—in the U.S. administration—to focus on Ukraine and Russia issues. A lot of people left. It will not be easy to find several counterparts.
March is SCOTUS month
This month, several highly-charged issues will be heard by the Supreme Court, setting up potentially-massive changes to the legal framework of our country. This week, Trump’s conservative appointees get their first chance to consider new curbs on abortion rights as the court examines the legality of a Louisiana law that could force two of the state’s three clinics that perform the procedure to shut down.
The case, June Medical Services v. Russo, pertains to a law passed in 2014 that requires doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges to local hospitals. This requirement has proven to be unnecessary for clinics (an abortion rarely results in complications, and if one did, the patient would be admitted to a hospital regardless of the doctor’s privileges). And it’s so difficult to implement that when Texas passed a similar law, it shut down half the state’s clinics. (Buzzfeed News) While it is overwhelmingly likely that five justices will vote to uphold Louisiana’s law, there is some uncertainty about how they will do so. It is possible that the Court will overrule Roe v. Wade outright. But it is at least as likely that the Court will leave Roe nominally in place while simultaneously watering down the abortion right to such a degree that it loses meaning in red states. The Court often prefers to create the impression that it will not allow the law to swing wildly according to the justices’ whims. (Vox)
Also this week, the court will hear arguments on whether Congress exceeded constitutional boundaries in 2010 when it created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Trump administration believes the independent structure of the CFPB is unconstitutional and wants the president to have more control over the agency. For instance, Trump wants to be able to fire the director at will.
A court ruling on the President's removal power could affect a multitude of independent agencies including the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Federal Reserve Board. For more than a century, Congress has been creating such agencies within the executive branch with directors who can only be removed only "for cause." (CNN)
Finally, on March 31, the high court will hear arguments in three cases involving House Democrats’ and New York state prosecutors’ attempts to obtain years of Trump’s financial records and tax returns. Last week, Trump called for Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg to recuse themselves from these three cases. Ginsberg criticized Trump’s character during his 2016 campaign, though she later apologized. Trump did not explain his reasoning for calling for Sotomayor’s recusal, other than her authoring of a dissent critical of the conservative justices on the court.
“Perhaps most troublingly, the Court’s recent behavior on stay applications has benefited one litigant over all others. This Court often permits executions — where the risk of irreparable harm is the loss of life — to proceed, justifying many of those decisions on purported failures ‘to raise any potentially meritorious claims in a timely manner,’” she wrote. “Yet the Court’s concerns over quick decisions wither when prodded by the Government in far less compelling circumstances.” What she really is saying is that the same justices who have no problem allowing condemned prisoners to be killed before legitimate questions about their cases can be resolved have no compunction in rushing to prematurely protect the Trump administration, and the president’s personal interests, from legitimate legal processes. In other words, Sotomayor is calling her conservative colleagues hypocrites who are willing to bend precedent in the pursuit of ideological goals. (Brennan Center)
The latest batch of emails released by the Department of Defense in response to a FOIA suit reveals evidence that the administration withheld from Congress during the impeachment inquiry and trial. Senior members of the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Defense Secretary Mark Esper, and then–National Security Adviser John Bolton had all advised President Trump to release the military aid to Ukraine, but the final decision was ultimately up to Trump.
The August 26, 2019, email from a senior career Pentagon official states that there was “no ongoing interagency review process with respect to USAI [Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative],” and states clearly: “Final decision rests with POTUS.”
“Critically, the email appears to contradict the White House budget office’s stated rationale for withholding the aid,” American Oversight states. Administration officials had been instructed to tell Congress that the freeze of aid to Ukraine was necessary to allow for an “interagency process to determine the best use of such funds.” The August 26 email clearly states that no such process was in action.
“Tonight’s document release is a reminder that before they lined up parrot the president’s line on Ukraine aid, senior members of the president’s national security team unanimously disagreed with his decision to withhold aid from Ukraine,” said Austin Evers, executive director of American Oversight.
An earlier email release revealed that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo fully coordinated with Rudy Giuliani on Trump’s pressure campaign on Ukraine and the ouster of U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch. “We now know Mike Pompeo and his aides encouraged Rudy Giuliani to deliver his bogus 'dossier' smearing Ambassador Yovanovitch during a week in 2019 when Giuliani's henchmen were stalking the ambassador in Kyiv,” American Oversight executive director Austin Evers told Yahoo News.
The House continues Ukraine probe
The Foreign Affairs Committee is reportedly at odds with pro-Trump candidate Robert Hyde, who claimed to have former Ambassador Yovanovitch under surveillance. Chairman Eliot Engel, who is investigating the alleged surveillance and threats to the Ambassador, said in an email to Hyde last month that he was “dismayed to read yesterday that you have made statements to the media which greatly exaggerate the extent of your cooperation with this investigation."
"As you know, we have expressed repeated concern that the records you previously produced contain significant gaps," the House staffers wrote. They added that it was obvious Hyde hadn't turned everything over because his batch of materials was missing records that Congress already knows about because they were turned over by Parnas, who was on the other end of the texts.
Last week, six members of Congress led by Reps. Denny Heck (WA-10) and Jim Himes (CT-04) sent a letter to World Bank Group President David Malpass requesting information about his August meeting with Zelensky in Ukraine. The lawmakers voiced concerns that the meeting could be seen as a part of Trump’s pressure campaign that resulted in his impeachment.
The lawmakers asked Malpass to disclose when he decided to visit Kyiv, whether he coordinated his trip with non-World Bank officials, the “deliverables” of the meeting, the meeting’s impact on the World Bank’s plans in Ukraine and whether they discussed Hunter Biden, Burisma or Viktor Shokin, the former Ukrainian prosecutor general who was ousted under international pressure from leaders including former Vice President Biden. Russia, Russia, Russia
Trump accused House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff of leaking information about Russia’s efforts to interfere in the 2020 election, dismissed the intelligence as “exaggerated,” and refused to acknowledge that Moscow was behind similar efforts in 2016. “Schiff leaked it, in my opinion — and he shouldn’t be leaking things like that,” Mr. Trump said without evidence.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi informed the public that the Trump administration “failed to provide Congress with a report on the ongoing attacks on America’s elections from foreign governments, which was required by the bipartisan FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act.”
It was reported that Senate Intelligence Committee Richard Burr warned Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley that their probe targeting Biden could aid Russian efforts to sow chaos and distrust in the U.S. political system.
The Washington Post reported that “U.S. officials are sitting on test results that may show how the Putin regime twice tried to kill a peaceful opponent whose close ties to the United States, and columns for The Post, are reminiscent of Jamal Khashoggi, the murdered Saudi journalist.”
A Russian court ordered former United States Marine Trevor Reed be detained for another six months on accusations he assaulted police officers in Moscow last year, a charge that his defense team has called “fraudulent.” Meanwhile, former Marine Paul Whelan has been in a Russian jail since 2018 on espionage accusations. Their treatment is a stark contrast from that received by celebrity rapper A$AP Rocky - when detained in Sweden, Trump dispatched his hostage envoy (and current National Security Adviser) to oversee the matter and secure Rocky’s release. No such effort has been made for the two former service members in Moscow.
Hopping the pond to look at Russia’s interference in the U.K.: The wife of former Russian Finance Minister and Putin-ally Vladimir Chernukhin made a £90,000 donation for a game of tennis with Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “The donation comes as Johnson continues to delay publication of a parliamentary report detailing extensive links between his party and donors with links to Russia.”
Alleged Saudi and UAE funding for Trump
Lebanese-American businessman Ahmad "Andy" Khawaja told Spectator Magazine that officials from Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia illegally funneled millions of dollars into Trump’s 2016 campaign. As the CEO of an online payment processing company, Khawaja claims that George Nader obtained his assistance to disguise the money using stolen identities and gift cards as under-$200 campaign contributions that are not required to be reported to the Federal Election Commission.
He remembers Nader explaining why they wanted to fund the Trump campaign. According to Khawaja, Nader said: ‘I’ve been meeting with the Trump campaign people…we have a deal with Trump: my boss, His Highness, made a deal that if we help Trump get elected, he’s going to be harsh on Iran, he’s going to take out the nuclear deal that the Obama administration made. That will cripple the Iranian economy and will sanction Iran from selling oil again. It will make it very difficult for them to compete in the oil market. That’s worth a hundred billion dollars to us. That’s the reason we cannot allow Hillary to win at any cost. She must lose.’ Khawaja says he asked: ‘But you really think he’s going to win? I mean, this is crazy.’ And he says that Nader replied: ‘His Highness is not stupid, he will never bet on a losing horse.’ The money would come from the Saudis. The Emiratis would run the operation, using data bought from the Chinese. Khawaja says that Nader told him: ‘We have all the data already, we have 10 million US consumers’ data. And we have endless money.’ The Russians were ‘on board’ too: ‘He said, “Yes, I have met with Putin already and we have a green light from him. Because Putin is on the same page with us. He wants Hillary to lose.”’
Khawaja and Nader were charged with making false statements, obstruction, and allegedly making illegal contributions to Clinton’s campaign on behalf of an unidentified foreign official. While Nader is currently in jail, Khawaja is a fugitive in the Middle East.
Cuccinelli appointment illegal
A D.C.-based federal judge ruled Sunday that President Donald Trump's appointment of Ken Cuccinelli as acting U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services director violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, a decision that suspends two policies Cuccinelli implemented while leading the agency. (Politico) Three weeks after assuming his new role, Cuccinelli issued a memorandum announcing a revised policy for scheduling credible-fear interviews, the first step in the asylum process, according to the court ruling. Under the revised policy, the agency reduced the time allotted for asylum seekers to consult with others prior to their interviews. Under Cuccinelli, USCIS also prohibited granting asylum seekers extensions of time to prepare for their credible-fear interviews, "except in the most extraordinary of circumstances." The asylum directives must be set aside, Moss ruled. (CNN)
Eric Trump’s taxpayer-funded business trip
Eric Trump visited a Trump property in development in Uruguay from January 8 to 9, 2019, a two-day business trip that cost taxpayers at least $80,786. CREW obtained records through the Freedom of Information Act today that add to the massive bill of Secret Service protection related to the Trump family’s management of the president’s business empire. The 2019 trip brings Eric Trump’s total up to at least $178,616 in taxpayer funds to work on development of the Trump Organization’s Punta Del Este property alone.
Scottish leader calls for Trump investigation
Parliamentarian Patrick Harvie, a co-leader of the Scottish Greens party, implored the government to pursue a legal order forcing Trump and the Trump Organization to reveal the funding of its multi-million dollar Scottish land acquisitions, saying there were “reasonable grounds” to suspect the U.S. president has been involved in illegal activity.
Mr Harvie said that the House of Representatives had heard testimony which stated: "We saw patterns of buying and selling that we thought were suggestive of money laundering" - with particular concern expressed about Mr Trump's golf courses in Scotland and Ireland. He added: "Trump's known sources of income don't explain where the money came from for these huge cash transactions. There are reasonable grounds for suspecting that his lawfully obtained income was insufficient.”
"Scottish ministers can apply via the Court of Session for an unexplained wealth order, a tool designed for precisely these kinds of situations." The orders can be issued by the courts to compel their target to reveal the source of funding, and are often used to tackle suspected international money laundering.
District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson denied Stone’s request that she disqualify herself from his case for supposed “bias,” issuing a sharply-worded rebuke of the defense’s allegations: "At bottom, given the absence of any factual or legal support for the motion for disqualification, the pleading appears to be nothing more than an attempt to use the Court’s docket to disseminate a statement for public consumption that has the words 'judge' and 'biased' in it," Jackson wrote. “Judges cannot be ‘biased’ and need not be disqualified if the views they express are based on what they learned while doing the job they were appointed to do.” Footage of Roger Stone’s interviews with prosecutors last month has been released… and the only word that can sum it up is “wow.” The entire archive can be found here, but if you are short on time Politico’s Andrew Kimmel made a supercut of the must-see moments that illustrate Stone’s true character: a narcissist who can barely control his anger at being questioned.
Stefanik broke fundraising rules
A constituent of Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY-21) filed an official complaint against her with the Office of Congressional Ethics for using footage of House floor activities to raise funds for her campaign - an express violation of House rules. Stefanik has used clips of her questioning during the impeachment inquiry in fundraising emails, including one with the subject line, that read, “WATCH: I EXPOSED ADAM SCHIFF.”
In a letter sent on June 7, 2018, the House Ethics Committee reminded legislators that “rules specifically prohibit the use of footage of House Floor activities and committee proceedings for any partisan political purpose.” “I think Rep. Stefanik’s use of video of the House hearing to solicit political contributions is a serious violation of that rule,” says Larry Noble, the former general counsel of the Federal Election Commission. “The rule is clear, and so is the guidance given by the House Ethics Committee.” Donald K. Sherman, general counsel of the ethics watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington — a group that routinely opposes the Trump administration — agrees with that assessment. “House Ethics Committee guidance clearly prohibits Members from using video of committee proceedings for campaign purposes,” said Sherman, who was previously a high-ranking Senate attorney, “which Rep. Stefanik appears to have done nine times in the last six months.
Campaign Legal Center, a nonprofit government accountability watchdog, filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics asking for an investigation into how Rep. Devin Nunes is paying for his six separate lawsuits against media companies and critics.
The complaint says Nunes appears to be in “blatant violation of House rules,” because he would have trouble paying for all these lawsuits solely from his congressional salary of $174,000 per year. The group argues he’d only be able to pay if he received legal services for free, at a discounted rate, or based on a contingency fee, meaning the lawyer would get compensated from Nunes’ winnings if he prevails in his lawsuits. In all of those cases, the complaint says, Nunes must disclose the legal help he is receiving by filing a legal expense fund, otherwise it would represent an illegal gift given to Nunes under congressional ethics rules. Nunes has not filed a legal expense fund with the Office of Congressional Ethics.
Washington Post: A federal appeals court in California halted the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” asylum policy on Friday, removing one of the key tools the president has used to curb mass migration across the southern U.S. border. The ruling was in effect for only a few hours, however, as the judges later granted a Trump administration request for an emergency stay “pending further order of this court.” Justice Department lawyers said in court filings that 25,000 migrants have been waiting in Mexico and argued that they feared the ruling would lead to an influx on the southern border.
New York Times: The Justice Department said Wednesday that it had created an official section in its immigration office to strip citizenship rights from naturalized immigrants, a move that gives more heft to the Trump administration’s broad efforts to remove from the country immigrants who have committed crimes… Some Justice Department immigration lawyers have expressed worries that denaturalizations could be broadly used to strip citizenship.
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights: "We reject any denaturalization task force that destroys citizenship as we know it and keeps every naturalized immigrant living in fear. Trump is weaponizing the DOJ to make naturalized immigrants look like second-class citizens."
Jurist: The US Supreme Court issued a 5-4 decision in Hernandez v. Mesa on Tuesday, holding that the parents of a Mexican child who was shot and killed by a border official have no right to seek a remedy in American civil court. The child, Jesus Hernandez, had been playing with friends in a dry culvert that straddles the US-Mexico border between El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez. Border Patrol agent Jesus Mesa fired at Hernandez from the US side of the culvert, and the bullet struck the boy on the Mexican side, where he died.
CNN: Secretary of Defense Mark Esper faced a bipartisan grilling from lawmakers Wednesday on Capitol Hill for his decision to divert military funding to pay for the US border wall as he testifies before the House Armed Services Committee… The top Republican on the committee, Rep. Mac Thornberry, also slammed the move saying it is "substituting the judgment of the administration for the judgment of Congress," adding "I am deeply concerned about where we're headed with the constitutional issue."
ACLU: The American Civil Liberties Union today filed a new lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s transfer of an additional $3.8 billion in military funds for border wall construction. Congress did not authorize the funds. “The president is doubling down on his unlawful scheme to raid taxpayer funds for a xenophobic campaign promise that is destroying national treasures, harming the environment, and desecrating tribal lands.”
Associated Press: President Donald Trump may not divert $89 million intended for a military construction project in Washington state to build his border wall… “Congress repeatedly and deliberately declined to appropriate the full funds the President requested for a border wall along the southern border of the United States,” [Judge] Rothstein wrote.
Today, Monday March 2, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case involving the Trump administration’s “expedited removal” of asylum seekers without allowing them a chance to take their application before a federal judge. For a detailed discussion of the case, see the ACLU and Lawfare.
Mother Jones: Melania Trump Got an “Einstein Visa.” Why Was It So Hard for This Nobel Prize Winner? Immigration attorneys say the Trump administration is rejecting highly qualified applicants for “genius” green cards.
2020.02.20 21:26 H0bster[DIPLOMACY][UN][ROLEPLAY] Henry Cavill Adresses the United Nations General Assembly in Hong Kong
Henry Cavill has long been world renowned for his portrayal of Superman in the film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice although up until now he has only portrayed Superman, not been a super man. That all is about to change as he enters the high school gymnasium in Hong Kong that hosts the UN for Q2 2048 as a fully credentialed member of the United Nations General Assembly Delegation from Brazil. He pushes open the door as the hot dog smelling air races out of the gymnasium/cafeteria/auditorium where the UN is being held. His long, red cape billowing behind him, his mustache waving in the breeze, although to the general assembly he appeards clean shaven due to green screen technology. He walks down the narrow corridors between the crappy fold-able lunchroom tables where the UN delegations are cramped together due to lack of a proper facility to host the UN in Hong Kong. Many gawk, all stare. Perhaps they think that a full Superman costume is not proper attire for the UN or perhaps they wonder what a supposedly proud citizen of the UCR is doing here despite not being a part of the UCR delegation. Henry Cavill climbs atop the shitty stage in the gymnasium/cafeteria/auditorium that the UN is in and approaches the podium, showing his credentials to the UN security forces. He taps on the microphone, the crowd is no longer awestruck by the appearance of Superman and return to their five minute unmoderated caucus. The talk of the various delegations over trivial issues of Nazis, UCR aggression, and the Unity Virus only frustrate Superman further. He taps the microphone again trying to gain the attention of the assembly, but failing resorts to using his eye lasers to create a massive hole in the roof. The assembly finally quiets to hear what Superman has to say.
People of Earth, I, an alien, stand before you not as a invader or enslaver but a symbol of hope. Of hope that one day raw milk will be recognized as the dangerous toxin that it is. In the 1880s French scientist Louis Pasteur invented the process of pasteurization. Pasteurization has saved countless billions of lives, yet some people still question it's usefulness, why? Anti-science nuts like the Serbian, Filipino, and Japanese delegations have voted against it for no conceivable reason. Perhaps they do not know the harm that can be caused by raw milk? In Brazil, alone, raw milk is responsible for dozens of deaths every year, when we extrapolate that data globally we know raw milk must be responsible for thousands of deaths per year. I call on all civilized nations to vote in favor of the Global Ban on Raw Milk. Alongside of being here to fix a problem in the current UN, I am also here to fix a problem of the past UN. Years ago Venezuela proposed a pointless investigation in Brazil, until today the UN has been unable to conduct this investigation. Brazil will now provide them the transportation they need. They will be flown into Punta Arenas and then bused to Baranquilla where they can easily take the train to Salvador. It may be hard to investigate Venezuela's false claims due to the neighborhood being redeveloped, meaning many of the residents from the 20s no longer live there, and the fact that the allegations are against the PPU, who rotate station fairly often, but I am sure that the UN will find no evidence of wrongdoing. Thank you and ban raw milk consumption.
